Polderside Farms philosophy is to raise their poultry in a low density, stress-free environment, feeding them a natural diet of grains and vegetables. The farm supplies product to more than 65 restaurants and retail stores in BC. The restaurants include ReFuel and Campagnolo Restaurants; Two Chefs and a Table, Vancouver ; Diva at the Met, Vancouver; Pourhouse, Gastown; Saltaire, W. Vancouver; Seasonal 56 in Aldergrove; Bozzini's, Chilliwack; Wikinninish Inn, Tofino; Grouse Mountain; Vij's and Rangoli's; Commodore, Bedford's, Ft. Langley. The retail stores include Windsor Packing, Main Street; Bosa Foods, Burnaby; Cioffi's Meat Market, E. Hastings; Famous Foods, Kingsway; Armando's at Granville Island; Columbus Meats, Renfrew Street; Gourmet Warehouse, E. Hastings; Heringer's in Steveston; 3-P Exotic Meats, N. Vancouver; Sebastion's, W.Vancouver; Market Meats on W4th; The Town Butcher, Chilliwack; Yellow Barn, Yarrow BC. The couple, married for many years, have always farmed together and grown their own food. Virginia has always lived on a farm, while her husband took up farming after coming to Canada from Norway. They moved to the Lower Mainland from Vancouver Island, where they had a mixed farm with a large greenhouse which grew produce for BC Hot House. They have always raised animals for their own food, but not commercially. They recognized consumers were longing for "old fashioned" food, and decided to follow the trends so popular in Europe and other parts of the world. |
